OLAMIOSA UK charity giving back to our Alma Mater
Our target is to raise funds for the procurement of Laptops, Printers, Starlink Internet connectivity with subscriptions and solar panels to generate power to the ICT suite and the Library. In addition we aim to provide additional sessions for students to develop digital skills.
We have procured and delivered new laptops and one printer for the ICT suite.
Your generous donation, particularly at our last fundraising event, is much appreciated and helps us to fund our mission.
Each class comprises 60 students, with a timetable slot of 14/18 hours per week.
The current ICT suite accommodates 40 students at a time; this can be expended to 80 students seats at one time with students having one laptop to themselves during lessons. There are no Pcs or Printers in the Library.
Students currently have access to the pcs in groups of 3-1 sharing one pc per desk. This does not encourage exploratory learning for students who wish to improve their ICT skills.
A new LRC will include making the ICT Suite and the Library fully Digital with modern equipment. In the long term we hope to provide all students with a laptop to use in classrooms.
In April 2016, Dr. Mrs. Florence Ajimobi donated 40 desktops to the ICT suite.
Our recent audit confirm that these desktops need updating because the processor speed is very low for the students to use effectively as necessary.
For health and safety reasons, we want to make the electric wiring, power sockets and cables safe.
We plan to provide new laptops in phases.
We have commissioned the services of a local Tech company to help with the sourcing and maintenance of the equipment in the ICT suite.
We are also planning for one Server, 2 Printers, one new large white board and one new projector.
There is no stable internet
The students need internet for online learning, research and resources for examinations.
We want to provide a stable wireless connectivity using the services of Starlink Internet and a regular contract with monthly subscription.
We also plan to provide power through solar panels. Ongoing electricity is necessary for charging the equipment and the Router.
Students need additional support with use of applications, online learning and gaining confidence in the use of equipment, including self learning and support outside school hours.
We propose to fund a teacher to provide lessons out of hours and during the school holidays.
We will also provide storage for the laptops and encrypted USB flash drive for each student.
